This painting reflects my emotions I felt during the time of the 2017 fire storm. Soon after our youngest child left home to go to college, my husband and I were awoken by smoke during the night and had to flee the fire that swept through the hills close to our home. Symbolically the nest represents our home and the eggs our three children out of home in the world pursuing their own dreams and out of my control. Reflected in the silver orb is myself in my studio and on the easel is a painting of a treacherous storm and waves after J.W.Turner's 'The Ice Storm'. The window reflects the fire beyond in the hills and the plastic is forming a protective wave around our fragile lives. Hence the title Fire, Ice & Plastic.
