Learn drawing fundamentals and painting techniques I use to create my still life paintings inspired by the Flemish tradition that flourished in the 14th to 17th century. You will learn essential theories for composing a still life piece such as drawing and composition, understanding values and color theory, hue, and chroma. Working in paint layers we will cover grisaille (underpaintings) and the technique of glazing and scumbling to create realistic and beautifully refined paintings. Learn how to paint reflective objects, feathers and fur.
Each student will work in his/her own still life station provided to create a complete painting study to take home.
Lesson information handouts will be available after each initial session.
Enjoy working in an organized, well lit studio environment by large North light windows where you can pick up extra tips and tricks, meet other artists and relax in a friendly atmosphere. Please don't feel intimidated as all levels are welcomed from beginners to advance. There is no egos and I strive to work for the individual students need.
Limited to 6 students per studio session.
Student’s responsible for providing their own drawing materials, palettes, oil paints, mediums and brushes. A material list, directions and general information will be emailed to you upon sign up.
